Flashback: Mariah Carey makes Billboard History (1995 – 1996)
She was a powerful tidal wave and nothing could stop her from her reigning chart throne. Mariah Carey‘s “One Sweet Day” made an amazing chart impact in the US, making Carey the only artist to have the Longest Running #1 Single in the Billboard Chart History.
The Boyz II Men assisted cut was released in November, 1995 and went on to debut at the top of the chart. The latter was voted the best collaboration of All-Time on Rolling Stone’s poll. However, in spite of the song’s successful chart run, it did not win any Grammy award and left the publics’ tongues wagging.
In a good spin of things, it has been two Decades since the song was released and it seems like it will not be dethroned anytime soon. Her career peak was truly remarkable. The Queen of the whistle register. No matter how her latest singles may tank on the charts, her legacy and legendary status remain intact.
