New Song: Mariah Carey – ‘Triumphant'(Get ‘Em). ft Rick Ross & Meek Mill

August 3, 2012

After the hiatus ‘Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel’ era, she has finally arrived. Mariah Carey‘s new single has premiered hours ago and it got the whole blogsphere excited. The Rick Ross and Meek Mill assisted cut is one hell of an empowering anthem(she did say she wrote the song during her difficult times), but it sounds just like any other Mariah song. There’s nothing groundbreaking about it and definitely not a ‘comeback single’.

‘Triumphant’ is a mid-temp, typical R&B cut and what is rather more disappointing about it, is the fact that it sounds like Mariah is being featured on her own track. She only sings the chorus and hooks and her vocals are really thin. I was expecting some of her famously renowned octaves in some parts. However, there has been rumours that there’s an alternative solo version, which is what I will wait for.

The Jermaine Dupri & Bryan-Michael Cox produced cut will hit iTunes on the 07 August, which is next week Tuesday. As to how it will do on the charts, time will definitely tell and I hope her next single has more crossover appeal. The cut is lifted for her current untitled fourteenth studio album.

You can listen to the track on her website below.
