A Must Listen: M.I.A. – Bad Girls

February 21, 2012

M.I.A. Is arguably one of the most underrated artists in the music circuit. She brings fresh rhythm every time she release something. Her most successful single is ‘Paper Planes’ which has an astounding production.

Her latest offering ‘Bad Girls’, is scorching hot. The Danja produced cut serves as M.I.A.‘s single from her 2010 released mixtape, Vicki Leekx. However, the mixtape consists of the short version and the single version is a bit longer. This is a jam. It is a mash of Hip Hop, R&B with sprinkle of Eastern drums. The lyrics are smart and catchy.

It has scored itself some favourable reviews from most renowned reviewers. One named it hottest record in the world and I agree. The visual is nothing short of amazing as well, even though it was slammed for stereotyping Saudi Arabian women for drag racing while men sit and cheer for them. The video still slays regardless, but I’m disappointed because of the fact that it is not from her new album. The song has so much potential to soar the charts. So far, it has peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 bubbling under chart.

Her label Interscope should have lined her some promo to help the song peak higher. It had no support at all. What a wasted opportunity. I really hope Danja will work with her again on her next album. He is one of the best producers of this generation who never recycle productions. Peep the visual below.
